Background
Client: NG Bailey in partnership with UKBIC
Relationship with Client: AED was introduced to NG Bailey during the Britishvolt project, which was unfortunately called off due to funding issues. This introduction led to a successful partnership, and NG Bailey invited AED to collaborate on a bid to design and build a new lithium-ion battery production line for UKBIC.
The Problem: The challenge was to design mechanical and electrical systems to support approximately 800m² of clean and dry rooms within an existing building, ensuring the highest standards for lithium-ion battery production.
Project Summary
AED’s scope of work included the design of mechanical and electrical systems to support the specialised clean and dry rooms critical to lithium-ion battery production. Collaborating closely with NG Bailey, AED played a key role in the successful bid, which was awarded based on our technical expertise and proven track record in high-tech facilities.
The project required designing systems that met stringent environmental controls essential for battery manufacturing. Working within an existing building presented spatial and integration challenges, which were carefully navigated to deliver a fully functional, energy-efficient facility.
Key Achievements / Outcomes
Final Outcome: AED successfully delivered the design for the mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the clean and dry rooms met the specific requirements for lithium-ion battery production. The partnership with NG Bailey established AED as a trusted name in battery manufacturing design, further strengthening our portfolio in this growing sector.
