Sector Experience

Cleanrooms

Overview

Our team of professional engineers have decades of experience in the design of thousands of square metres of cleanroom space for UK and international industry, research organisations and universities.

Our experience covers all classes of cleanroom, including class 1 facilities for nano-scale manufacturing processes.

Our team’s experience in designing cleanroom environments is second to none. In addition to projects undertaken by AED, our team is proud to have been involved in some of the World’s most advanced cleanrooms for applications including Semiconductor, battery manufacturing, pharmaceutical, bio-containment, materials science, industrial processes and universityresearch facilities.

Design & Consulting Scope:
  • Cleanroom and Laboratory
  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Process)
  • Effluent and Waste Water
  • UPW & DI Water
  • Special Gases
  • CDA
  • Vibration Isolation
  • Containment & Contamination Control
Design Experience

Our team’s experience includes many notable cleanroom projects for industry and research in the UK & internationally, including:

  •  University of Southampton, Mountbatten Building. Semiconductor, biotech, thin-film, optical and MEMs research facility. Including 1,500m2 class 100 bay & chase cleanroom and 2,000m2 of state of the art laboratories. The facility benefits from free cooling systems, combined with adsorption chillers and complex heat recovery systems
  •  Cardiff University Translational Research Facility for Institute of compound Semiconductors (ICS). State of the art facility for compound semiconductor research and production utilizing GaAs, InP, SiC and many other research sub-strates. Facility includes state of the art vibration control, EMI control to support E beam writers for nano-scale fabrication
  • Photronics, Manchester, England. The UK’s first Class 1 cleanroom facility for photomask production
